I caught myself strolling around the internet, looking for peculiar (!) and curious things to post here, when I found this article. It simply says that people who work at Miami Jungle Island Zoo have been using nothing but iPads to communicate with orangutans. Yeah. They play games (not Angry Birds, I assume), draw and learn some words, as part of a mental stimulus program.
There are some pretty funny facts that we can totally bring to our daily life – can you believe that the older apes weren’t as interested as the younger ones in this technology thing? According to Linda Jacobs, one of the responsible for the program, it’s like they just figured “I’ve gotten along just fine in this world without this communication-skill here and the iPad, I don’t need a computer”.
I find it incredible, since I love animals and technology, though…You have to admit that’s not something VERY new. I mean…There are some animals that are really hooked on gadgets:
Gee, the Fruit Ninja cat is WAY faster than me.
